The posthumous lynching of Mahé de la Bourdonnais

Read more  The Reconquest of Reunion Federation strongly condemns the plan of the Mayor of Saint Denis de la Réunion to remove the statue of Mahé de la Bourdonnais from the eponymous square.
Madame Bareigts shows by this action that she is perfectly in tune with the French political class in power for decades: "Find me something to destroy quickly". So here are the people of Réunion in general and the people of Saint-Denis in particular summoned to regroup behind a posthumous lynching. Death! Death! But this unanimity in hatred is false.
Many people from Réunion – probably the vast majority – whether they are descendants of slaves or descendants of slave owners – are outraged to see their history and heritage vandalized. They are outraged, on the one hand, in the name of a decolonial and Wokist ideology, coming from across the Atlantic and, on the other hand, in the name of the pseudo-expertise of a certain local “civil society”, won over by the pan-Africanist and anti-French theses of the activist Kémi Séba. May Madame Bareigts, in line with her left-wing ideals, dare to consult the people and let them decide!
To love Reunion is to love the whole history of Reunion, including its tragic aspects, it is to esteem all the great men who made this island.
