Despite the declarations of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, at the time of his visit to Josette Audin in September 2018 on the need to open access to the archives of the Algerian War, closures were noted at the end of 2019, in particular at the Historical Service of Defense. The Collectif Accès aux archives publiques was then formed and, in July 2021, obtained satisfaction from the Council of State. Other texts have been published since then, but it is clear that difficulties persist.
