When the fight against Islamophobia serves the Muslim Brotherhood

Read moreOn February 1st, Marion Lalisse was appointed coordinator of the fight against anti-Muslim hatred by the European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli, with the mission of fighting against "structural and individual discrimination" against Muslims. If this position, which remained vacant for several months, remains highly controversial, it is because the fight against "Islamophobia" is being used as a weapon of Islamist soft power intended to impose the crime of blasphemy and to prevent any criticism of Islam, including fundamentalist criticism. Whether one speaks of "fighting anti-Muslim hatred" or fighting "Islamophobia," this institutionalized struggle, disguised as the "fight against racism," contributes to making our societies Sharia-compliant, accomplishing a crucial first step in the Muslim Brotherhood's plan to Islamize them. Negotiate rather than force. Presented in 1997 to British Home Secretary Jack Straw, "Islamophobia: A Challenge for Us," authored by the British think tank Runnymede Trust, is the first report on Islamophobia ever published and remains a model for those that followed. The report was prompted by tensions surrounding the Rushdie affair. They are attributed to a difficulty of liberal democracies to admit and integrate a population carrying "other feelings and values". As a solution, the report proposes to recognise culture, language, customs and religion as the basis of discrimination, whereas until now it was based solely on race. For the prevention of the problem, he advises that it be entrusted to civil society rather than to the State. It is better, to avoid the force of the sanction and the violence that it could in turn engender, to take the paths of tolerance and "education", to negotiate rather than force. He proposes to embark on what is nothing other than a form of cognitive reprogramming to change the way non-Muslims view this religion. For example, Islam seen as "monolithic" must now be considered "diverse and progressive", seen as "violent, aggressive and threatening" as "an effective or potential partner in cooperative enterprises", seen as a political ideology "as an authentic religious belief, sincerely practiced" (quoted by Bergeaud-Blackler, 2023). "total social fact" It also points out the concrete areas for improving society because of the character deemed "structural" of Islamophobia. Based on his conception of Islamophobia as a "total social fact" (Mauss), he intends to correct all areas of social, political, economic life, those of the media, business and employment, the sectors of health, education, etc. And with some success. The Runnymede Trust still boasts to this day of having influenced political and public decisions in favour of public funding for specifically Muslim schools, the portrayal of Islam in the media and the inclusion of questions on religion in the 2001 British national census. This first report was a model for the Brotherhood organizations that take the path of fighting Islamophobia, racism or "structural" hatred as a royal road to impose their plan of Islamization, their legitimate presence and recognition "as Muslims" in all sectors of society. It contains a series of recommendations such as increasing the political participation of Muslims, both at national and local levels. Local education authorities are invited to explore the possibility of providing single-sex education in areas with large Muslim populations; it is suggested that "procedures for disseminating good practices to meet the needs of Muslim pupils" be established; it is advised to replace Anglican schools with Muslim schools where there are large Muslim populations; it is proposed to facilitate Islamic practices in the public sphere, particularly at university. And, of course, the system for protecting Muslims must be restored to its original purpose by strengthening policies for reporting individual and structural religious discrimination and harassment based on what Muslims deem offensive. The needs of Muslims subject to Islamic law, their right not to be offended, must be met, lest violence erupt and potentially unleash the monster of the far right. The victim must be satisfied to prevent her from rekindling with her violence the executioner who lies dormant in the West. Islamophobia allows its promoters to capitalize on anti-Semitism in two ways: on the one hand by downplaying the seriousness of the latter, and on the other by diverting the force of Westerners' feelings of guilt and self-hatred from Jewish victims to supposed Muslim victims. The value of programs, reports, and institutions aimed at combating “anti-Muslim hatred” or “Islamophobia” (terms often used interchangeably) must urgently be assessed in light of this observation. Negotiate rather than force

Presented in 1997 to the British Home Secretary Jack Straw, "Islamophobia: A Challenge for Us", signed by the British think tank Runnymede Trust, is the first report on Islamophobia ever published and remains a model for those that will follow. At the origin of this report, the tensions surrounding the affair Rushdie. "total social fact"

It also points out concrete areas for improving society due to the deemed "structural" nature of Islamophobia. Based on its conception of Islamophobia as a "total social fact" (Mauss), it intends to correct all areas of social, political, economic life, those of the media, business and employment, the health, education sectors, etc. And with some success. The Runnymede Trust still boasts to this day of having influenced the decisions of politicians and the general public in favor of public funding for specifically Muslim schools, the representation of Islam in the media or the addition of questions on religion in the 2001 British national census. And, of course, we must ensure that the system of protection of Muslims reproduces its raison d'être by strengthening policies of reporting individual and structural religious discrimination and harassment on the basis of what Muslims find offensive.

Feeling of guilt

The needs of Muslims subject to Islamic law, their right not to be offended, must be satisfied at the risk of provoking violence that could lead to the awakening of the extreme right-wing monster. The victim must be satisfied to prevent her from reviving by her violence the executioner that lies dormant in the West. Islamophobia allows its promoters to capitalize doubly on anti-Semitism, on the one hand by relativizing the gravity of the latter, on the other hand by diverting the force of the feeling of guilt and self-hatred of Westerners from Jewish victims to supposed Muslim victims.
