Read more  This conference will be the place for a reflexive return on the use of gender studies in the interpretation of medieval literary texts, which can be deployed along different axes. 1/ What does the notional tool do to the object? In other words: what does the conceptual field of gender do to medieval literature? 2/ Symmetrically, what does the object do to the notional tool? In other words: how can medieval literature inflect the conceptual field of gender? 3/ Finally, how can the object and the tool combined interact with the world? In other words: what can be the place and the stakes, in contemporary public debates, of the work of medieval literary scholars in gender studies? By crossing these three perspectives, the conference will aim, on the one hand, to identify what makes the singularity and the fertility of a literary approach to medieval texts through the conceptual field of gender; on the other hand, to draw up a map of concepts likely to shed light on medieval texts; finally, to propose interpretative approaches that can serve, if not as models, at least as examples that can nourish and inspire future research. Proposals for papers, with a maximum length of 3500 characters, and accompanied by a bibliography of up to 5 titles, must be sent to the address reseaulima.ge@gmail.com before June 30, 2023. The organizing committee will return a reasoned notice of acceptance or refusal in mid-July 2023, accompanied by any suggestions, requests for clarification or additions.
