The Science of Remedy

Can we imagine today a science of medicine, a new branch that would self-proclaim itself "Science of Remdesivir". Yet this is precisely what we are witnessing daily with the establishment of a disciplinary field that infuses the University with its standards and canons with a science of "decolonialism" that starts from a double postulate that we await verification or invalidation:

  • 1] There is a colonialism at work in the deep structures of the Republic of schools and knowledge.
  • 2] “Decolonialism” is the remedy

We would witness the same debate: 1- There is a disease 2- my medicine is the only cure. It is difficult to share Lagasnerie's enthusiasm when he writes:

If the idea of university (and especially of intellectual field) as a place of discussion has a meaning, so questioning certain frameworks which organize the production of knowledge (and even what it means to produce knowledge) does not represent an attack "against the university", but, on the contrary, one of the forms of the exercise of university reason when it takes itself as an object.

G. Lagasnerie, Getting out of our helplessness (see in database)

To question acquired knowledge as an exercise of reason, fine. But to question it not to maintain doubt as a logical asceticism, but rather to establish a remedy as the only path to redemption: that is challenging. And this instinctive distrust is reinforced by assertions that perfectly underline that the Copernican revolution is made by a return to the subject, which ignores the object:

If as feminists we do not have this initial handicap, if we are at the same time subjects and objects of our analysis, we are nonetheless, as academics, members, even if inferior members, of the intellectual class.

C. Delphy, The main enemy (see in database)

How can one support the idea that deconstructivist criticism is an exercise of reason at the same time as one is oneself the object of study of the discipline of the remedy? The objective very quickly returns to that of the sect: to purify, to cleanse the sick body or mind of the intellectual parasites that harm it without its knowledge:

I have not yet emerged from economic insecurity, but I benefit daily from white supremacy, patriarchy, and cultural and social capital.

Ludivine de Brantigny, From great evenings to small mornings , (see in database)

The science of the cure, which puts DEcolonialism before the study or proof of Colonialism as a reasoned certainty, is nothing other than yet another avatar of the theology of Liberation: 'free yourself, wretch, from the chains that enslave you in spite of yourself and without your knowing it. For you are sick, and I am the cure.'

Why not? Well, because the University is the place of Universalism and reasonable doubt; of distanced study and sober commitment.

No cure.

Although the threat is clear, the growing fragility of our cultural institutions in the face of organized criminal networks does not provoke any real reaction: the political and judicial authorities remain inert, while museums, insufficiently equipped and protected, remain at the mercy of a booming heritage crime.

An interview by Pierre-Henri Tavoillot with the philosopher Manuel Maria Carrilho who analyzes wokism as an ideology stemming from the "paradigm of the unlimited", based on a boundless conception of identity and language, and marked by a censorial fanaticism deeply rooted in Western institutions.
