During the summer universities of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure (finally!) put the Socialists back on track with republican values. If some Socialist leaders have had, in the past, reasons to worry us, Oliver Faure has, in this 2021 back-to-school period, serious reasons to reassure us.
By stating:
The left, rather than straying into the paths of wokeness or indigenism, must instead proudly hold the republican flag. This is how it will remain awake. The left cannot be ambiguous about the universal principles on which it is founded. The Anglo-Saxon model that juxtaposes communities is not our model. Our choice is that of the Nation, one and indivisible. We want to live together in the Republic, to do common in justice and equality, in fraternity.
Olivier Faure rightly points out to what extent the fight for the Republic has been carried throughout history by the left, which must quickly take up this fight for universalism. Let us now hope that these words will be carried by the left during the next elections.
