But the fight against this ultra-egalitarian movement has itself gone awry: Dalilla Hermans, responsible for the city of Bruges' candidacy for the status of European capital of culture, has been attacked for her Rwandan origins. This personality is considered “woke” by the Vlaams Belang and the N-VA. What is your reaction? If serious people do not deal with wokeness, we leave room for racism, extremism and populism. This story in Bruges reinforces our idea that the MR must tackle this issue head on. In the MR's fight for state neutrality, we saw exactly the same thing: racists invoked principles linked to neutrality when their real objective was the rejection of the other. Which was obviously not the case for the MR. I am not afraid of the debate on wokeness because I am sure of my values. I am sending a message to the socialists, the environmentalists, to this right-thinking elite: it is very dangerous to equate the MR with the extreme right, to talk about fascism as they do. The day they are confronted with real evil, they will no longer have words to describe it. They will no longer have the credibility to cry wolf. They radicalize opinion by rejecting those who do not think like them. It is very serious that we can no longer address the issues of “living together”. In Bruges, the fight against wokism has a taste of racism. We cannot deny that there is discrimination that affects, in particular, people of foreign origin. Yes, but in a liberal democracy, there are no specific rights for categories of individuals. There is equality of opportunity, equality of rights. We are not in the business of permanent revenge. The crux of the problem with wokeism is that it reduces a person to one, two or three visible characteristics. Is Lewis Hamilton (F1 driver) one of society's invisible people, those who are discriminated against, because he is black? He is less discriminated against than Jason, who is white, comes from Colfontaine and comes from a family of welfare recipients. This is an extreme example, of course. I just want to show that skin colour, for example, does not inherently result in discrimination. It's much more complex: you have to look at the level of education, the region, social disengagement... That's why wokism, which designates the camp of good and the camp of evil on the basis of visible characteristics, creates radicalism in society. The MR study on "wokism". In an interview with La Libre, Paul Magnette estimated that "wokism", if it exists in the United States or Canada, is almost absent in Belgium. Really? In Mons, there are “decolonial yoga” classes organized by an institution funded by the city and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. It was forbidden to people who were not colored. You want to do yoga and you're white? You don't fit in... In one of the reports from the Congo Commission, it is proposed to grant differentiated social security rights for Afro-Descendants, as compensation. Isn't this wokeism? And the removal of statues? Leopold II must disappear from public space? When you deny history, you always have a problem. I know a large Brussels law firm that organized a recruitment evening reserved exclusively for black people. No, there's no such thing as "wokism"... The review of sentences in the Paty trial

It is time to break with these legal ambiguities that undermine the social contract. The restoration of the Republic requires a justice system that names terrorism without euphemism, a massive revaluation of the teaching profession, and a secularism that yields nothing to fanaticism. Samuel Paty did not die so that his indirect murderers could benefit from reduced sentences in the name of an ill-informed youth or insufficiently proven intent. Let us protect the public education system, or accept its decline and the end of republican meritocracy. The time for leniency is over.
