Conspiracy theories are sea serpents of the human imagination. They were therefore not invented by the digital age. However, the deregulation of the cognitive market that the Internet represents has brought new vitality to these intellectual proposals. The objective of this conference will be to explain why. Gérald Bronner is a Professor at the Sorbonne, member of the Academy of Technologies and the National Academy of Medicine. A sociologist, he works in particular on collective beliefs and has published numerous works on these issues. His work has been awarded several prizes, including the Prix des Lumières, the Prix Aujourd'hui and the prestigious European Amalfi Prize For Sociology and Social Sciences.
