An update from Nathalie Heinich to Philippe Corcuff

[by Nathalie Heinich]

On April 27, 2022, the site AOC published the second part of a text by Philippe Corcuff entitled "In the midst of confusionism, on the edge of the political precipice". The mention of my name, associated with our Observatory, in a completely false statement, prompted me to immediately request a right of reply, which was refused by the editor-in-chief of the site, Sylvain Bourmeau. Having neither the desire nor the time to launch myself into a lawsuit, I prefer to deliver to the readers' appreciation the little reflection that this new example of the bad faith of the Islamo-leftist left - the stupidest left in the world? - inspired me.

The answer thatAOC therefore refused to publish:

In the article published today on your site under the title "In the midst of confusionism, on the brink of the political precipice", its author, Philippe Corcuff, associates my name, through my participation in the "Observatory of Decolonialism and Identity Ideologies", with a "focus on "Muslims"". This is a defamatory statement, because it is exclusively on Islamists, and more precisely what many of us call "Islamofascism", that I and my colleagues at the Observatory have directed - among other subjects - our analyses and warnings. This confusion between Muslims and Islamists, surprising for a sociologist and political science specialist, tends to prohibit any criticism of Islamism by equating it with a rejection of Muslims as a whole - a rejection commonly referred to as "Islamophobia". In this respect, the confusion he commits on the grounds of denouncing "confusionism" is typically part of this "Islamo-leftism" which, in the same paragraph, he considers to be "phantom", even though his mendacious assertion constitutes a flagrant example of it.
